Catalogue descriptions
Care is taken to ensure that any statement as to authorship, attribution, origin, date and provenance is reliable and accurate. All such statements are opinion only and are not taken as statements or representations of fact. Bidders are strongly recommended to personally inspect the lot for which they intend to bid.

Condition reports
While an identification of damage is given in some instances, an absence of such advice does not imply the lot is free from defect. If called upon to do so, we will give a verbal condition report on a particular item without charge or obligation, as a matter of courtesy. Obligation over the printed or oral descriptions applied to sale items is limited. Prospective purchasers are strongly advised to inspect any lot on which they intend to bid. All measurements and weights are approximate and should be verified by intending purchasers. Please refer to clauses 2, 3 and 7 of the conditions of sale.

Buyer registration
Prospective buyers are requested to register before the sale so that full details of their name, address, banker’s details and other relevant information can be recorded. This can be done on sale day at reception.

Bidding
We operate a buyer number system. Those prospective buyers who complete the registration set out above will be issued with a bidding paddle just before the sale. During the sale this should be raised clearly and promptly to signify your bid, allowing sufficient time for the auctioneer to note your number, should you be successful in securing the lot. Please return your paddle at the end of the sale.

Absentee bidding
If you are unable to attend the sale in person and would like the auctioneer to bid on your behalf, please complete an absentee bidding form. These forms must be submitted to the sales office by 5pm the day before the sale commences. We will try to secure the item for you as reasonably as is allowed by other bids and the reserve price, if any. Commissions placed by telephone, fax or E-mail are made only at the buyers own risk

Telephone bids are subject to a minimum estimate of £100 per lot and and will only be accepted before 5pm on the day prior to the sale. We will be pleased to call you for this purpose shortly before the lot in which you are interested comes under the hammer. As the number of telephone lines is limited, early booking is recommended. (We also recommend that you leave an “emergency cover” bid in case we are unable to reach you by telephone.)

Buyers premium
