An auction of jewellery, gold coins, watches, and silver from the Roman Empire to the modern day. Our July auction includes some delightful treasures, many with hidden meaning; including a Roman tetraskelion fibula, or cloth pin, the design believed to represent the eternal clockwise journey of the sun, which in mythology is drawn across the sky by solar steeds (Lot 29).
On a more romantic note, is a Georgian sepia love token (Lot 103), depicting a young lady in fashionable dress holding a puppy, a symbol of devotion and loyalty, or the early 20th Century charm bracelet, the assortment of charms including a tiny painting on an easel (Lot 17).
Watches include a lady’s diamond cocktail watch, and a man’s gold hunter pocket watch, while silver includes a pair of Tiffany & Co silver comports, and an Edwardian lady’s silver mesh purse.

Following Parts One and Two of the Brian Whitton Collection - which together drew international attention and introduced new audiences to one of the most significant private collections of John Tunnard's work ever assembled - Anderson & Garland is proud to present the third and final chapter.
Part Three steps beyond Tunnard to reveal the full breadth of Brian's eye as a collector. Over decades of looking, acquiring, and living with art, Brian assembled a remarkable group of modern and contemporary works that reflect a sensibility both discerning and adventurous; the collection of a man who clearly understood Tunnard's restless curiosity because, in many ways, he shared it.
Whether you are a collector of modern British art, an admirer of mid-century abstraction, or simply someone who has followed the Whitton Collection from the beginning, Part Three offers a fitting and rewarding conclusion to an exceptional series of sales.
Anderson and Garland is one of the UK’s largest Auction Houses and has a worldwide reputation for offering major single-owner collections at auction. Our team of Specialists blend expertise and experience with tailored marketing strategies, to ensure a collection is presented to best reflect the passion of the owner and reach a large and engaged audience. Specialist areas include paintings, coins, militaria, silver, jewellery, books, musical instruments, comics, toys, silver and wide range of memorabilia and ephemera.
If you are a collector and are considering selling, don’t hesitate to get in touch and our specialists will be delighted to discuss details.
