An early 19th Century Italian Renaissance revival gilt wood and gesso cassone, the caddy top decorated with military scene, possibly the receiving of Anthony by Cleopatra, above vitruvian scroll bezel and acanthus carved edge, three panels below missing now covered with red cloth, flanked by fluted corinthian pilasters above lotus leaf, egg and dart decorated base, raised on lion paw feet, 86 x 28 x 37in. high. PROVENANCE Bears label for ''Mrs R. Benson, Warpole House, Chiswick''. Mrs Robert Benson was resident at the house in the early part of the 20th Century. Also bears label ''Mr & Mrs F.D. Brough, Bilton Hall, Alnmouth, Northumberland. See illustration
