A George III coffee pot, maker's mark probably that of William Collings, London 1775, baluster-shaped and engraved with a crest of Logan within a ribbon and swag design, foliate bands, hinged domed cover, leaf wrapped spout, double scroll ivory handle, on spreading base with rim foot, 31.325oz. NB The Logan crest is that of a heart being pierced by a passion nail. The Logan ancestor of the vendor, the first to have this crest, was one of the knights commissioned by King Robert the Bruce to take his heart to the Holy Land after his death which occurred in 1329.
