A sapphire and diamond necklace with matching earrings, the necklace with floral-shaped drop set a single facet cut sapphire surrounded by eight brilliant cut diamonds, below three further smaller flowerhead designs with marquise-shaped links, set also with sapphires and diamonds, on fancy chain; the earrings to match with single sapphire and six diamonds, the necklace hallmarked for '18ct' gold, 41cms long, earrings 2cms high. PROVENANCE Titled the 'Carthew Necklace', this necklace with pendants adapted to earrings, was commissioned from Wittons Jewelers as the grand prize in a 'Whodunit' competition ran by the Newcastle Journal in 1984. Copies of the paper cuttings come with the necklace.
