A British volunteer rifle officers sword, 1827 pattern, the 82cms (32 1/2in.) curved blade etched with 'VR' cypher and leaf scrolls, the hilt with openwork guard, decorated horn motif around wire bound shagreen grip and domed pommel, fitted steel scabbard with two hanging rings, 100cms (39 1/2in.) long overall.
