A blue and white bowl, painted with four scenes from the Romance of the West Chamber (also known as ''The Story of the Western Wing''), each of the four sections depicting a scene from the narrative beneath Chinese star constellations, the interior with central ''Shou'' symbol within a ruyi head cartouche and double circle, the border with ruyi head and diaper band with floral cartouche, six character Xuande mark within double circle, but probably Kangxi period, 7 1/2in. (19cms) wide, (shallow rim chip, some glaze fritting and small crack to rim).
