An early 19th Century wool and silk sampler, worked by Mary Ann Train, aged 11 years, 1805, with alphabet and numbers, above poem 'Jesus permit thy gracious name...', ship below HMS 'Blessing' and long boat beside highlighted in silk, surrounded by birds, butterflies and foliage, within rosewood frame, 14 x 19in. (36 x 49cms). NB: The HMS Blessing was launched as a North Sea convoy vessel in 1805 with 16 guns.
