Edward Facon Watson (1804-1892) FIGURES PROMENADING IN AN ORNAMENTAL PARK signed and dated 1866 watercolour and bodycolour 56 x 38cms; 22 x 15in. (a pair) See illustration Watson was born at Kirton in Holland, Lincolnshire; he was an occasional exhibitor at The Royal Academy and The Royal Society of British Artists from 1839-1870; but he seems to have made his principal income as a picture restorer, framer, carver and guilder from his studios at Poland Street, London (1830-1837) and St. James' Gallery of Art, 201 Piccadilly (1838-1877). Amongst published prints he produced lithographic views of Lea Castle in Worcestershire. His death at home at the age of 88 or 89, was reported in The Times, 12th July, 1892.
