Opaque twist wine glass, ogee bowl above double series opaque twist stem with pair of heavy spiral threads enclosing lace twist, on conical foot, mid 18th Century, height 14.5cms. See illustration PROVENANCE Samlesbury Hall, Preston, Lancashire, 24 April 1981, £46. NOTE According to E. Barrington-Haynes, this twist is the fourth most encountered of the double series opaque twist stems and is seen with Beilby decoration which might argue a Newcastle provenance.
