The stones Durham Cathedral will be auctioning off were sourced from Prudham Quarry and placed on the Central Tower during the 1858-1861 renovation. All proceeds from the auction will be directed to Foundation 2020, the Cathedral’s campaign to build an endowment fund of £10 million to secure the future of the Cathedral. Every donation will be matched on a 1:1 basis by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. All stones purchased will come with a certificate of authenticity.
