Our next Fine Silver Auction takes place on Tuesday 19th March and comprises over 500 lots of both collectors’ pieces as well as items perfect for decorating your home. From the 17th Century to Modern Designers, there’s something for all tastes.
Highlights include a private collection of Scottish provincial silver – mainly spoons, but covering most individual towns alphabetically from Aberdeen, Arbroath, Ayr via Dumfries. Dundee, Elgin through to Tain & Wick. To include some real rarities!

This Spring Country House & Fine Interiors Auction is a highlight of our sales schedule this quarter and is full of rare and highly collectable items that would make a stunning addition to any collection.
The most exciting lot of all is BANKSY’S ‘Holywell Row Happy Choppers’, which has already attracted worldwide interest from collectors. This stunning item carries an estimate of £500,000-£800,000. Closely followed by a further ten original BANKSY lots featuring some of his earliest works.
The sale also features items gathered from across the North East and beyond including the contents of large townhouses in Gosforth and Tynemouth; a Country House near Hawick in the Scottish Borders, and a large detached property in Nunthorpe on Teesside.
To begin with we have Fine Pictures which, aside from the BANKSY lots, includes a collection of works by Robert Jobling discovered in a house in Cullercoats; works by Norman Cornish, and a stunning oil by Hendrik Frans Schaefels titled ‘The Gift of a Silver Chalice’. Following on from this section we have our usual fantastic selection of Rugs and Carpets.
Day two starts with Asian and European Ceramics and Works of Art. Highlights include a rare pair of 18th Century Chinese export porcelain figures of Hawks, Qianlong dynasty, discovered during a local estate clearance, estimate £1000-2000, but these could fly; a Guangxu marked Chinese biscuit porcelain Dragon Bowl; a rare pair of early 18th Century English delftware wet drug jars; a rare Wedgwood and Bently fox head stirrup cup, circa 1775; and a Wedgwood fairyland lustre bowl.
Other highlights in the sale include a large and varied selection of Furniture, Clocks, Furnishings, and Collectors’ items from the 16th Century through to the 20th Century. Highlights include a Swiss music box by Picard-Lion; a stunning Dutch Burr walnut cabinet on chest; a Lalique Eucalyptus Vase; and an impressive 19th Century French Mahogany cheval mirror.

A selection of rings by the renowned Roberto Coin heads the bill. There is a selection of larger diamonds as well as an end-of-line sale of fine diamonds and gems stones. A Roman ring with carnelian matrix is something a little rare and different.
