This spectacular Christmas Country House & Fine Interiors Auction marks a high point in our offerings this year and is full of rare and highly collectable items that would make a stunning addition to any collection - or in many cases, ideal Christmas presents!!
To begin with we have Asian and European Ceramics and Works of Art. Highlights include a rare mid-18th Century St James (Charles Gouyn) scent bottle; A rare Meissen monkey band; A Wemyss pig; A 19th Century Sang De Bouef French ormolu mounted vase; and a rare pair of Mexborough Cow Groups.
Next we have Fine Pictures which includes “On a Wind" by Charles Napier Hemy in which a fishing boat glides through rough tides; a peep of chickens with curious onlooker by leading animal painter Edgar Hunt; Alfred de Breanski's "The Heat of Noon" depicting a verdant Suffolk landscape; and Thomas Miles Richardson Jnr's view of "Ben Nevis", once in the collection of the Viscount Ednam MC, and the Earl of Dudley.
For those who prefer pocket-sized love tokens, there is a delightful portrait miniature of 18th Century actress Sarah Siddons, a famous beauty and muse of the artist Horace Hone RA.
Collectors of local art will enjoy the section of works by William Kay Blacklock, John Falconar Slater, Robert Jobling, B. B. Hemy, George Blackie Sticks, and John Wilson Carmichael, to name but a few.
