Championing Baltic as a beacon of creativity, Baltic has received a major donation from renowned musician Sting that kickstarts an ambitious fundraising campaign for a £10 million Endowment Fund. The annual return on that investment will fund Baltic’s programmes and sustain creative futures on Tyneside for future generations to come. The Endowment will make Baltic less dependent on public funds and safeguard its artistic freedom and the crucial free access to Baltic. The Endowment means the Baltic story can continue.
On Thursday 30 October, Baltic is staging a Fundraising Gala in which Sting and Nadine Shah will both perform. The evening will include an auction of exclusive, limited and one-off artworks and experiences generously donated to Baltic, to raise funds for the Endowment.
Baltic has presented the work of over 877 artists of 78 nationalities in 266 exhibitions to date including Joy Labinjo, Hew Locke, Heather Phillipson, Antony Gormley, Cornelia Parker, Daniel Buren, Lubaina Himid, Steve McQueen, Jenny Holzer, Judy Chicago, Lorna Simpson, Imran Perretta, Huma Bhabha and John Akomfrah. Baltic capture the public’s imagination with a dynamic mix of awe-inspiring exhibitions, community gatherings, and opportunities to learn.
