We are pleased to present our forthcoming Country House and Fine Interiors Auction, a richly varied sale bringing together decorative arts, furniture and objects of enduring appeal.
Ceramics are particularly well represented, with an eclectic mix of English and European pieces spanning the 18th to the 20th century. Highlights include an extensive Herend ‘Rothschild Bird’ pattern dinner, tea and coffee service, a design famously chosen by Lady Diana Spencer for her wedding in 1981. A fine selection of Meissen pugs and Staffordshire porcelain models of dogs add charm and character, while 19th century majolica is led by an impressive Minton Heron ewer from 1866, designed by Hugues Protat, alongside a rare pair of Sèvres barbotine Art Nouveau vases.
The sale also offers a strong clocks section, with pieces to appeal to both collectors and enthusiasts. Standout examples include a late 17th century table clock by Alexander Warfield and a fine George III bracket clock by John Thwaites. Of local interest is a Jaeger LeCoultre Atmos clock, presented to Major William McKeag M.S.M by Newcastle United Football Club in recognition of over 25 years of service on the Board of Directors during the 1960s.
Furniture and furnishings provide further depth to the sale, with something to suit a range of interiors. A notable highlight is a George IV rosewood tilt action breakfast table, in the manner of Morel and Seddon, a superb example of the craftsmanship and elegance associated with the finest 19th century makers.
