Part two of the Studio sale of George Sherwood Hunter will include a wide range of previously unseen works. The featured lots span his artistic career, including the last ever work he completed- “Fishermen on the Sea of Galilee”.

The sale showcases the range of his work, including landscapes, particularly in Scotland, coastal scenes, tourist works with scenes of the Carnic Alps, small town France, and the eastern Mediterranean, architectural studies, interior scenes, and portraiture.

His confident treatment of light can be seen across the sale, particularly in his lochs, seascapes, and mountainous crags. A few fine examples of in the sale provide a glimpse into his influences, with copies after Henri Regnault, Jean Joseph Benjamin Constant, and Titian, to name a few.

Largely works in oil, there can be found a few watercolours and etchings.
