A curated selection of traditional artworks ranging from late 19th Century to modern, highlights include a pair of John Falconer Slater oil paintings depicting shire horses at the end of a working day; quenching their thirst and returning to the stables, a subject also visited by twin sisters Dorothy Margaret and Elizabeth Mary Alderson in lot 1679, this time with humour, where a line of farm animals wait in line at the water trough.
Pictures by modern artists include local views by esteemed artist Charles “Charlie” Rogers, Walter Holmes, and a still life by Denis Eutikhiev in which the artist has employed the technique of photorealism to paint fresh grapes and goblets of red wine.
