A late 19th/early 20th Century oak four-fold dressing screen, inset to one side with watercolour drawings by Thomas Harper (1820-c.1889) six rectangular and sixteen tondo, scenes include: seascapes, loch, country lanes, ruined castles and old country houses, fitted brass and ebonised handles, 88in. long 68in. high. LITERATURE Artists of Northumbria by Marshall Hall, p.152/153, Harper was born at Eighton Banks, Nr. Gateshead, but moved to Newcastle from an early age and became a pupil of Thomas Miles Richardson Snr. He exhibited landscapes at Newcastle Society of Artists at the age of sixteen and showed works at The Royal Academy in 1840.
