A group of First and Second World War medals, awarded to 27800 Sergeant G. Hogg 62nd Battalion Machine Gun Corps, to include: Military Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, War Medal, Victory Medal, Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal and a Russian Medal for Zeal, various ribbons. With letter from Lieu. Colonel G.N. Harrison, Commanding Officer, describing the action 'At----between the 20th and the 29th July 1918, for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On one occasion when the tactical situation was very obscure this N.C.O. volunteered to make a forward reconnaissance. He advanced nearly half a mile under heavy rifle and machine gun fire and returned with invaluable information. Throughout the operations Sergeant Hogg has shown great skill and determination in handling detached guns in difficult situations. No thought for his own safety ever interfered with the ready execution of his duty.' Gazetted Tuesday 19th October 1920 - for Meritorious Service Medal for valuable services in military operations in South Russia, (for which the Zeal Medal was also awarded).
