A late 19th Century Swiss music box, by A. Rivenc & Cie, circa 1892, with three interchangeable cylinders, the case in quarter veneered burr walnut, crossbanding and inlaid ebony and mother-of-pearl scrolls, gilt brass carrying handles to each side, the ebonised interior with airs card to inside lid, printed by Orell Fussli and marked 'Marque de Fabrique' below a griffin, show eight airs to each cylinder, numbered 42,800 1, 2 and 3, the glazed interior lid revealing 11in. (28cms) steel cylinder playing on steel comb, case dimensions 34 x 16 1/2 x 9in. (87 x 41 x 22cms). See illustration
