Terence (Terry) Arthur Hibbitt's (1947-1994) Fairs Cup 1968 presentation miniature Noel Beard trophy, won with Leeds United, plated and inscribed 'Coupe des Villes de Foires, Trophee Noel Beard, Vainqueur 1968', on ebonised plinth, 6 1/2in. (17cms) high. History: Born in Bradford 1947, Terry joined Leeds United in 1963 with whom he won this lot. He played in the second leg of the final which they drew 0-0 against Ferencvaros, winning on aggregate 1-0. Finding it hard to find the playing time on the pitch with such a strong team he moved to Newcastle in 1971 for £30,000. Runner up in the 1974 FA Cup finial (see Lot 384 for medal and Lot 388 for opponent's shirt). A few years on he moved to Birmingham United in 1975 but returned to Newcastle four years later. In 1981 he started playing non-league football with Gateshead whom he managed in the 1985/6 season. Provenance: Sold by direction of Mrs Hibbitt.
