Arthur John Ferrier (1891-1973) A FEMALE NUDE signed pastel 75 x 61cms; 29 1/2 x 24in. Ferrier was born in Glasgow and began a career as an analytical chemist. After freelancing as a cartoonist he moved to London and became a professional illustrator for ''Punch'' and other magazines. In 1930 he created a weekly glamour cartoon-strip ''Film Fanny'' and the Sunday Pictorial, published his ''Our Dumb Blond'' from 1939 to 1946. His other comic strips included ''Spotlight on Sally'' and ''Eve''.
