Welcome to our October Newsletter

Autumn is always such a fantastic time of year in an auction house. With the summer behind us, winter auctions are being catalogued and the planning and preparation for 2022 is well underway. In October we held a whopping five sales which included two Homes & Interiors Auctions, The Modern Auction, The  Music Auction and we held our first online only Picture Auction since the lockdown last January. Selling highlights of the month included a Lorenzo Quinn Sculpture titled ‘Time flies’, sold to a UK buyer for £2500, a late 19th Century French Violin, sold to a UK trade buyer for £7800 and a pair of Chinese famille rose vases, sold to a Malaysian buyer for £1600.

The reintroduction of online only and timed auction is something we’re very excited about here at A&G. Auctions of this style allow us to further embrace digitalisation and facilitate easier viewing and bidding for our burgeoning list of UK and international clients.

This month we held a series of specialist in-house valuation events. All were a great success and we can’t wait share some of the upcoming lots with you. Keep an eye on our social media channels for more information. Just to whet the appetite, they include: Two Rolex wristwatches, a stunning selection of diamond rings and coloured gemstone jewellery; ornate silverware perfect for the Christmas table; and a great selection of carriage clocks

Collectable Comics have been a regular feature at A & G for many years. Our specialist, John Anderson, an enthusiast since childhood, is now reckoned by most collectors, to be the UK’s leading Comic book valuer, and A & G the leading auction house, holding the biggest and the best sales in the UK. This November and December we’re holding two huge auctions comprising of over 40,000 highly collectable and desirable DC and Marvel comics, many from a single owner collection. Overall, these auctions should raise a significant six figure sum.

As we head towards Christmas, it is always a busy period for our valuation team. Although we’re no longer accepting entries for our December sales, we’re days away from launching the 2022 auction calendar, which includes some fantastic new specialist areas which we think you’re going to love. On that note, we’re already welcoming entries to our early 2022 Auctions including Modern Art & Design, Music Instruments, Classic Vinyl, Comics, Toys, Cameras, Sporting memorabilia, Vintage enamelled signs and other collectables.

Our valuations department has been very busy these last few months. They offer comprehensive probate and insurance valuation services across the region and further afield. Moreover our ‘broom clean’ house clearance service for executors and beneficiaries is the best by far in the region.

If you would like information on any of the above, our client services department are on hand to help. They can be contacted on 0191 430 3000 or by emailing info@andersonandgarland.com
