Spring Newsletter 2023

Spring Newsletter 2023

Message from Managing Director, Julian Thomson.

As we move into the second half of 2023, it’s a perfect time to highlight some successes that we’ve achieved so far this year.

In brief, we’ve held 31 auctions; our core team has grown yet again, with the addition of four new members of staff since January; our sister company, A&G Land & Property Agents, achieved a staggering 100% selling rate at its Winter and Spring property auctions, attracting glowing reviews from vendors.

Looking ahead, there’s still lots to get excited about. The Summer auctions are fast approaching, and we’ve already consigned several great collections we know you’re going to love, which include musical instruments, modern and traditional art, comics and other collectors’ items. Moreover, with the recent arrival of Alex Butcher and the expansion of our Silver Department, we have made silver a standalone auction, which will now sit separately from Fine Jewellery & Watches. Expect around 400 lots in the July auction.

After the successful launch of the A&G Northumberland Roadshows earlier this year, our valuers are hitting the road once again this October, heading back to Berwick, Alnwick and Hexham. We were thrilled with the response in both March and June, where people turned out in their hundreds at each event to meet with our experts. This success is something we hope to replicate when we visit Tynemouth, Durham, Sunderland and Cumbria later this year – so watch this space!

That’s all for now, thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Julian Thomson
Chairman & Managing Director

Our Charity Partners

As part of our corporate social responsibility policy, we aim to support and improve the lives of people in the North East wherever possible. We do this through strategic partnerships and charitable giving.

We’re proud to partner with several charities including Emmaus North East & Betel House, which are homeless charities; and with Daisy Chain who support those with Autism and Neurodiversities.

In addition, we fund raise for three charities every year around our Fine Art Auction. Our chosen Summer charity is The Northumberland High Sheriff’s Fund at the Community Foundation, Tyne & Wear.
