Valuations of Scandinavian Furniture and Design.

Heavily influenced by the pre-war German Bauhaus School, Scandinavian furniture and design became very popular in the 1950’s. Designers from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland became popular around the world.

Unlike designs from elsewhere, their products weren’t flashy but designed to be well made and fit a warm, comfortable and welcoming home. Moreover, they were of the firm belief that beautiful and functional objects needn’t be the preserve of the rich but should be accessible to everyone.

Therefore, they blended high functionality, good quality natural materials and pale colours with simple lines, elegance and excellent craftsmanship.

It covered a wide range of household items including cutlery, ceramics, lighting, textiles and furniture. Their influence continues to this day in cars, mobile phones and other consumer goods.

We hold three auctions per year dedicated to mid-20th Century Scandinavian Furniture and furnishings. We also sell items in our fortnightly Town & County sales.
