Hello, and welcome to the Anderson and Garland Newsletter!
We've had a great first half of the year here at A&G, with 15 Auctions under our belt so far. These have ranged from bi-monthly Homes and Interior Auctions to Specialist Collector sales. A few memorable sale highlights from the past six months must be lot 7&8 from the Fine Jewellery Auction held in June - an art deco diamond ring (hammer price £13,000), and a Colombian emerald and diamond ring (hammer price £12,000), both of which gained a high level of interest and sold well, as did an 18th Century marine painting attributed to Thomas Allen, which sold in the Fine Art sale held in June and fetched a hammer price of £43,000 after an intense bidding battle.
As the world begins to fully open up again, so will our Auction House. We have already welcomed back saleroom bidders and hope to increase the capacity of this over the coming weeks and months in line with government guidance. The requirement to pre-book auction seats will be a thing of the past and a face covering will not be a mandatory requirement, however, we will still have hand sanitizing stations located throughout our salerooms and public spaces, and COVID cleaning practices will remain in place. The implementation of Click and Collect has been a great success, and we've received very positive customer feedback in relation to it. We're therefore happy to announce that it will now be a permanent feature at Anderson and Garland.
Over the past year, Anderson and Garland have seen huge digital growth, with a large proportion of buyers and sellers moving online, which in turn has increased the global footprint of our company. This has helped keep prices strong and sales well attended despite restrictions. We have also continued to offer insurance valuations, house clearances and probate services throughout. With over 180-years’ experience supporting bereaved families, working with solicitors, and helping our clients with accurate valuations of their assets, we continue to offer these services and support our clients during difficult times. If you would like more information on insurance valuations, house clearances or probate services, please email info@andersonandgarland.com or call 0191 4303000.
This month has been very exciting for the A&G family as we have expanded the team and welcomed two new members of staff. Olivia Telfer joins us in a role new to Anderson and Garland, as Marketing Manager. Olivia has over ten years of Marketing experience and joins A&G from Alnwick Castle, where she has spent the past 6 years as Marketing Manager. Olivia has an MSC in Marketing Management and is passionate about driving the A&G brand forward and spreading our message far and wide.
The second new addition is Hannah Murphy, who joins us from McTear’s in Glasgow as an Auctioneer and Valuer. Hannah has a wealth of Auction House experience and will manage our Homes and Interiors Auctions. Hannah developed an interest in antiques and fine art at a young age. After completing an undergraduate law degree, and a post-grad in Collecting and Provenance at Glasgow University, she decided to turn her hobby into a career. Hannah will be taking Homes and Interiors to new heights. Welcome to the team ladies!
