John Henry Dearle and May Morris for Morris and Co: a finely carved mahogany bi-fold screen, circa 1880's, the carved cresting rails with stylised floral motif centre and turned finials, raised on turned legs united by turned stretchers, the silk panels with satin stitch embroidery depicting roses, tulips and fritillaries sewn and signed in the design by Lady Caroline Trevelyan, 60 1/2 x 46in. Provenance Morton House, Fence Houses, acquired in the 1950s from ''an important house in Northumberland'' presumably Wallington, Northumberland.
