A George III needlework sampler worked by Mary White, Newcastle School, also bearing the name of Anne Rhead, decorated with Dirsington (sic) Hall, a seat of the late Lord Delaval, Northumberland, also decoration with numerous figures, stylized birds and animals, including a stag to the base, sailing ships depicted are the Spitfire, Jason, Europiea and the Nelson, dated 1804, 13 x 20in., contained in a birdseye maple frame. NB Dirsington Hall refers to Dissington Hall near Stamfordham, the Hall depicted in the sampler was demolished and rebuilt in the 19th Century.
