Oswald Tschirtner ''2 Rettungsmäer Tragen Einen Kranken'' 1983 Signed with initials Inscribed with title and dated Ink on paper 15 x 20.8cm; and ''Das Christuskind in der Krippe'' 1987 Signed with initials, inscribed with title and dated Ink on paper 21 x 14.7cm Both unframed (2) Exhibited: Galerie Gugging, September 2001. Biography: Born Perchtoldsdorf, Austria, 24th May 1920. Raised by an aunt and uncle in Vienna and attended a seminary school from the age of ten. Drafted into the German army in 1937. Fought at the Battle of Stalingrad. Captured and interned in Southern France. Due to religious fervour and violent episodes, was sent to a psychiatric institute in 1947. Entered Maria Gugging Psychiatric Clinic 1957. Began to draw under the supervision of Leo Navratil. Resident at the Haus der Kunstler (House of Artists) from its opening in 1981. Died 2007.
