An Endo period Japanese Katana, with Tsu School fittings, 26 1/4in. (67cms) long blade (tip to tip of tang), the tang indistinctly signed in red paint, shibuichi tsuba, decorated with single crayfish to each side, decorated in gilt, the habaki decorated with cords and ferns, signed Tsu Jimpo (probably Otsu Jimpo (1720/1-1761/2)), the cord mounted ray skin grip (poor condition) mounted with a pair of yellow metal menuki in the form of dragons, end cap matching tsuba, the brown lacquer scabbard with cord loop reinforced with yellow metal mounts, (missing kozuka), 29in. (74cms) overall. Note: There are a pair of gold menuki by Jimpo in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession number 2004.459 a-c.
