Jane Vivian (De Fleury) (fl.1869-1890) Gondolas on the Grand Canal, Venice signed oil on canvas 44.5 x 80cms; 17 1/2 x 31 1/2in. NB J. de Fleury was a landscape painter living in London and exhibiting actively between 1799 and 1823. His son J. Vivian de Fleury was also an artist. He was active between 1847 and 1868 specialising in Continental views, especially in Italy and Switzerland. Miss Jane Vivian seems to have been a relative and first exhibited a view of Venice from her London address in 1869 and continued to produce mainly Italian views until around 1880 when she moved to Birmingham and continued to exhibit until 1888. An artist named J.V. de Fleury was further exhibiting at the Birmingham Society in 1892 and 1893. See illustration
